Happy Easter!

March 31, 2013

Happy Easter everyone! Bit of a cold one!
No chocolate for the dogs though. I have bought them Gravy Bones, so they can have a couple of them this evening. Tilly's due for a bath which I might get done today - on the subject of baths, I've filled in the application form to enter a YKC Grooming competition with her in May. I'll just have to find out if we've been accepted for the Scrufts heats which are happening on the same day in the same place! Can't do two things at once!
The agility is com...

1st Places!!

March 10, 2013
Well, we went to the competition this morning .... and to my utter surprise won two classes!

We arrived late (makes a change) and we had to run last (after the smalls). Well, as I predicted, Tilly acted like a complete loony by running like crazy around the whole course, doing all the obstacles on her own - generally having a great time! So we were disqualified from that round.
Jumping was better! We did the whole course with only one fault (going around a jump) and we went clear in steeplechas...

Moving up and another staffy!

February 26, 2013
We had a brilliant nights training yesterday! However, there was a slight accident at the start!
The beginners class were standing around talking to the instructors while our class was told to 'warm-up your dogs' (forget the dogs, I was freezing!) Anyway, I put Tilly onlead and walked her up the Dogwalk, aiming to get contacts. Unknown to me, the little Staffy in our class was off-lead and had decided to take herself up the other end of the Dogwalk! Both dogs met in the middle, and it was com...

Toys ....

February 23, 2013
Tilly loves toys! Her favourites have to be soft toys, but they either get ripped in games of tug-o-war between both dogs, or end up stinking as they are left in the garden!
I like buying new toys for the dogs to keep them entertained. I also swap them around. I keep some in the cupboard and only bring them out for training or occasional walks. This keeps them 'high-value' in the dog's eyes.
Tilly loves to play fetch with a tennis ball (her favourites are the bouncing rubber ones) but I notice...

Diet ....

February 22, 2013
Tilly's been on her new diet for about 4 months now. I stopped feeding her canned food and mixer about two years ago, but have been experiementing with different complete dry foods ever since. I really want to get them onto the BARF diet, but my family do not agree with it, and it will take me a long time to sway them (It can be done - I was told I could never have a dog, and now have two!).
At the start of last year, I found a new food called 'Lathams'. It was advertised within the Community...

Failed Attempt no.1!!

February 21, 2013

Oh, I forgot to tell you ..... Tilly failed her first attempt at silver *insert dissapointed frown*. No, I was impressed with her actually. The first go as always involved her acting like a pillock and 'doodle-dashing' everywhere. The second was FAR better. She was focused and fast. Everything was going so well until we got to the dog walk and the monkey jumped off the end. No amount of me shouting 'WAIT' helped. But, she finished a whole course with no dropped poles or wrong obstacles. And I...

Nice walk, weaves, Staffy!

February 21, 2013
A friend and I took both girls up on a long country walk the other day. It was nice and sunny outside, but boy are looks decieving! It was freezing! Especially when we got to the top of the hill! I did get some nice pictures though on my phone. I can't wait until my camera is fixed so that I can get some decent quality pictures.
Tilly got some speed into her weaves today which is good. I've found that she'll work better for a tug-toy reward rather than food which is odd as she is such a food-a...

To Add ....

February 12, 2013
Oh and I wanted to add that I have qualified as a Level 2 Groomer! I was the only one to pass the exam completely 100%! So I'm very happy about that!
I've also bought Tilly a fleece tug lead. All the agility people have them, so I thought I'd try and fit in. Still hard though, having a big hairy bear amongst all the tiny, slim, sleek Collies *rolls eyes*. There's nothing wrong with them, but it's just nice to see another type of dog doing well at agility once in a while! She's high-drive, so l...

Happy New year!

February 12, 2013

Haven't posted in a while! Tilly is fine, and appears to have lost a bit of weight! So has Betsy (she really needed to!)
We have our Silver progress test on Sunday, and she has to get all of her contacts! Wish us luck!
